Harassment & Discrimination

The EEOC issued a revised "Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law" poster.

The poster was updated to include information regarding the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2008 ("GINA"), which is effective November 21, 2009. The poster can be found at http://www.eeoc.gov/posterform.html.

Counsel to Management:

Federal law requires employers to post notices in the workplace advising employees of their rights under federal employment discrimination laws (including the new GINA laws). Management should make sure the new poster is up before November 21, 2009. Management should also take this time to look at your posters and update them as necessary. If you don't remember where your posters are...give your labor counsel a call. Management should also take this time to review your handbooks and update your Equal Employment Opportunity sections to incorporate language concerning GINA.
